AGKC
- at Home When Andy showed me these pictures I must admit that I thought the house looked great in them. However, I am slowly doing it up more, room by room. The dining room is going to have this gorgeous gold and burgundy wallpaper halfway up the wall and then a border. The upper walls will be painted burgundy to match the wallpaper. The ceiling is going to be a goldy beige colour that you find in the border, with the white cornice all around. There will be a crystal chandelier. (I have it, but I hadn’t realized the damned thing needed to be assembled, and so all the pieces are now spread out on the dining table and I am—very slowly—putting it together.) Finally, there will be curtains—a gold, deep red and green Italian chenille. The kitchen is going to have a Wedgwood green ceiling. The cloakroom off the kitchen will have the same green and black wall paper in a French figural patter. The living room will have a taupe ceiling and the incredibly ornate cornice will stay white. There will be curtains in a yellow gold colour that match the wallpaper. The hallway will be deep grey with white ceiling and trim. The outside door (a genuine Georgian door) will have the paint stripped off the stone surround, and the wooden door stripped back and stained wood colour. And upstairs and outside—well, I won’t bore you with that. (But if you visit I will be glad to!)
There are a zillion projects that I want to work on. My one frustration is that I can only do them one at a time. I always wanted to live forever. This house makes that desire even more pronounced. I just love it. Oh, and we will have two geese and chickens and a thriving vegetable garden soon. Bliss. Absolute bliss.
