Prices
for giclée printing
Please Note:
These prices are for our own printing work and do not apply to the
sale of artist's prints. A guide to prices for finished, approved,
and signed prints can be found here.
Perhaps
the best thing about giclée prints is the fact that you can
order just one! However, if you decide that you want more then one,
we have very favorable quantity prices – 4-9; 10-19; 20-39;
and after that, we may negotiate.
With
respect to our quantity prices, it is important to point out that when
we give a price, for example, for 4-9 prints, we do not mean 4-9 images
of the same painting. We will give you the quantity price for 4 prints
of different images.
Much
of our work is local, but if not then we must charge packaging and postage
at cost - we don't take a profit on that, but we may have to charge.
That
being said, it’s also important to explain that there are typically
no up front costs. Typically, an artist brings us a painting and we
scan it or photograph it, prepare an image suitable for printing, and
do an A4 size proof. The artist then examines the proof. He or she may
suggest a variation on the proof; e.g., less blue, bluer, darker, etc.
Once the proof has been approved, then we go ahead and print to specification.
What we won’t do is to photograph or scan multiple paintings unless
the plan is to order prints of the paintings. In those cases when an
artist wants us to photograph or scan many paintings without finally
printing the images, we charge £40 an hour.
About
the printing images themselves. We are happy to supply artists with
images that are suitable for websites or the printing of catalogues
without charge. The printing images belong to us, the printers. This
does not mean that we own the images, or that we can print the images
without permission. If you require the printing image for your own use,
the charge is £40 per image. This is because the preparation of
a printing image takes a great deal of time.
